Did I expect a restaurant to offer seafood in Delhi’s Rajouri Garden, right near the metro station? No. So Blue Water Grille was a surprise package and a good one. I had been told seafood was the speciality. So when the manager asked us to make our choice, we decided to try the seafood dishes.
Spread over 600 sq ft on the first floor, the interiors are subtle. You can quietly sit in one corner, sipping your drink, and you will not feel uncomfortable. Or you could have a blast with friends or family and still feel at ease. It also features a rooftop lounge and a private dining room for a promising dinner and an experience that would linger.
The menu is extensive, with Indian and Chinese delights, speciality being grilled and seafood. Going by the name Blue Water Grille, we decided to begin with Grilled Fish with Chef’s Own Tangy Sauce. Though there is a choice of soups, we opted for a beetroot mocktail. I would call it a health drink with its multiple flavours of mint and ginger.
As we sipped our drink, gossiping over the menu, the fish was served with a smile. The portions are large, so you had better be ready with at least two more people to dig in. We preferred to serve ourselves. Tangy the fish surely was with the tamarind, each bite melted in our mouths. Positively a must try for fish lovers.
Making the experience an exciting one is the fact that there is a live kitchen. The spices are subtle and there is virtually no oil. So, the place is a boon for the health conscious.
Well, beetroot drink almost over, Meghna decided to try Moksha and I opted for White Rum-based cocktail. The quantity of Moksha certainly makes you feel that you need to only enjoy the place. There was no rush as we saw when drinking from the huge glass. The liquor menu is extensive for all those who like to take something exotic.
For the main course, we ordered veg noodles and Lemon Honey Prawns. The prawns melted in our mouths and the gossip continued. We spent a good two hours eating and talking, slowly enjoying every morsel.
For those who like chickens and veggies and salads, there’s ample choice.
Well, as it was chilly winter afternoon, we ended with hot gulab jamuns and vanilla ice cream. A sweet Indian ending to a grand seafood meal.
Blue Water Grille is the brainchild of two brothers Angad Singh and Harmohan Singh. In 2008, this multi-cuisine QSR specialised in grills and gastronomic Indian and Chinese food. Encouraged by the positive response, the duo started a chain for fresh seafood, “Pick Fresh Fish” and has four outlets in different locations around Delhi.
Blue Water Grille is certainly the place for a party or a date. So do take time out to have a sumptuous meal there if you are wishing to impress anyone.
