Nordic Kandie Magic, the European luxury candy brand has recently made its debut in the capital city. After trying some of the amazing cupcakes, unique flavored chocolates and delicious macaroons in Delhi, we now have a new luxury to delight our taste buds with. Nordic Kandie called for a bloggers meet few days, giving an overlook of their delicious gourmet marzipans.
The handmade marzipans are prepared with the finest quality of ingredients, involving mamra almonds from Iran, Belgium chocolate and the edible silver and 23 carat gold from Italy. Since they follow the European style for preparing marzipans, they aren’t too sweet to taste but instead have an exclusive pleasing savour which might drive a desire within to have it again. “We select almonds the way grapes are chosen for creating the finest wine,” said Thea Tammeleht, Founder & Director, Nordic Kandie Magic.
Thea Tammeleht and her husband Thomas Abraham, the brains behind this brand, told us about how they got an idea to start the Nordic Kandie Magic and even shared about their interesting story behind making of the product. The marzipans treat comes from the time of 15th century, when it acted as to be a delicacy in disguise for an ill man. Since then the recipe is being passed on from generation to generation. It is now when the sixth generation thought of converting this home-made thing into perhaps a very lucrative business. Around six months back, the couple started with this business in Mumbai and now they have moved on to national capital, placing outlet in Khan Market.
They currently have over 16 delicious flavours to offer, which are prepared keeping the Indian taste buds in mind and beyond that there are even more which are being curated by a team of experts led by Chef Vicky Ratnani. To name them, they had the classic Mamra almond, chocolate, strawberry, orange, fig (anjeer), green apple, mint, chilli mango, blackcurrant, cherry, rasberry-lemon, cinnamon, peanut butter, lychee and nutmeg to offer. While every flavour was made with the pure blend of the ingredients it promised, giving the pure melt-in-mouth taste of it, but there are some fruity marzipans which slowly gets on to your palette. Every single flavour was worth tasting but to list out few among them, I preferred classic Mamra almond, mint, lemon, blackcurrant, orange and the green apple. They are so delicious! And, yes the for all diet conscious people out there, this treat is 100 % vegetarian, Cholesterol and Gluten free.
Marzipans can be an ideal gift option too, placed in a lovely deep blue color box with a beautiful satin ribbon and the perfect branding, of course. They provide an easy-pick up option with a tag placed with every single marzipan. Yes, the brand took extra brownie points for its idea of packaging. Thea and Thomas gave away these beautiful customised boxes with the selected list of flavours to everyone.
You can get a customized box of authentic marzipans prepared with your own preference of flavours. Marzipan pop stick starts from Rs. 205 onwards. Silver balls are for Rs. 300 and the gold ones are for Rs. 350 per piece. And just for you to know, if you buy silver or gold covered marzipan, you get a proper TUV certification for the coating used among the royals across the Europe.
