Summer fashion tips 2018 by Shehla Khan

A reflection of my rendezvous with fashion, design and everything else enroute, is my label Shehlaa that instinctively gravitates towards my own personal style.

With a strong backbone of in-house production, the intricacy of craft, acquired skills, and distinctive aesthetic, I would like to believe these facets translate into each of my creations. This year, like any other year, my designs are inspired by my travels with an emphasis on Parisian elements. The signature style has become synonymous with the interplay of pastels and the inclusion of deep hues fittingly paired with magical fabrics like sheer, organza, tulle, and lace. Experimenting with structured designs, classic ruffles, luxurious layering, dramatic drapes and hand-painting, my collection this year is all about the pairing of the classic and chic components.

Since my own fashion and style philosophy is to rise above the norms of fashion, every Shehlaa ensemble is an attempt to be timeless.

Summer 2018 is all about minimalism. Colour palettes have changed, fabrics are lighter and accessories are chic and simple.

My summer collection is light, flowy and easy to wear, and enhances your style quotient at summer parties and wedding soirees.

Here are the summer must-haves or tips for 2018:

Lightweight fabrics – The first thing to change in your wardrobe this season is the fabric. The use of tulle, lace and georgettes enhance the flowy fun summer look. The versatility of these light weight fabrics pushes style boundaries to accommodate that luxuriant look.

Crop tops – Lending some relief from the heat, this trend is here to stay. Be it for your ethnic look or western look the crop top is a great pick for summers. Gone are those days when crop tops had to be paired only with denims, today they are the most versatile piece one wear. A sequinned/embroidered crop top adds a glam quotient when paired with a tulle sari and a fun sleeved crop top.

Floral prints – Printed outfits are everywhere today, so getting your hands on them to pair with a perfect ensemble just got easier. A floral high waist pant is the need of the season. These can be paired with a solid colour crop top to get your day look on point, and at the same time could be paired with an embellished crop top to achieve a contemporary look for a summer wedding.

Accessories – Traditional jewellery is overrated this summer. Just like outfits, simplicity should be this seasons motto. Chokers are trending lately and Summer is the perfect time of the year to get all your chokers out from the trunk and enhance that open neckline. Opt for sequinned or lace chokers that add glam and grace to your look just like these ones from label Shehlaa.
