With the ever changing pace of technology, I am amazed at the speed and features that new smartphones incorporate. With features such as fingerprint scanners for security and cameras that can now capture in 4k video format, the bar is raised with every new product that enters the smartphone market. I had been looking for a change, to upgrade from my trusted old pal – the first generation MotoG and I was left spoilt for choice with the options that are available in the market now. After much research and consulting friends, social network scanning and some window shopping around I zeroed in on the new 4G LeTv 2. The phone is available on Flipkart I ordered one on the site – taking advantage, I would like to concede, of the flash sale. All one needs to do is register once and buy once the sales start.
It came packed beautifully in a sleek black box and neatly. I LOVED the attention to details on the packaging as well as the design element. This was only a teaser of what was inside the box – the careful attention to detail translates onto the device as well. The form factor is impressive – the phone has a sleek steel body with a perfect finish. The front houses the camera and the bezel edge 5.5 inch screen – immaculate and tidy. With a 153 gm weight, it isn’t too heavy or too light, just about right. The finish of the phone is clean and well-built. Soft rounded edges with clean lines as its main design features. It fits in the hand well.
The LeTv 2 is a stellar performer with 3Gb of RAM, Octa-core Qualcomm 652 processor and a generous 32gb of space. The phone has an 8MP front camera and a selfie beauty built into as well so all selfie addicts get pretty good pictures too. The camera itself is a 16MP; autofocus dual led flash enabled as well as the software for the camera is well rounded and easy to use. It is fast and quick and gives good images in decent lighting. It also has the ability to record videos at 4k which is a big plus for all budding filmmakers. The editing program is the icing on the cake.
Talking about the full HD 1920×1080 5.5 IPS LCD screen movie watching is a delight, so is reading and gaming. For security, there is the usual pattern feature, but here you also get the fingerprint sensor which works well and fast.
LeTv2 has a lot of nifty UI touches and comes with its EUI setup built on top of Android ver 6. (Marshmallow). I liked the UI, and it was quick, fast and intuitive. The battery is fast charging and in just about half an hour, it charges to 50% charge. I used the phone with a good mix of calls, text and video watching and the battery has enough juice for the day. There are no battery heating or lag issues at all.
The video player supports all the popular video formats like XVID/MP4/H.265, so there is absolutely no need of transcoding or downloading another app. Audio is also impressive with MP3/WAV/eAAC+/FLAC player and with its CDLA audio feature which promises amazing audio clarity and listening pleasure. By far, the only bummer is that my set didn’t come with the CDLA headphones which it should have, but I believe latter shipments do have it thrown in. For connecting your regular headphones you have a connector which helps but I feel it is just another additional thing you need to carry to play music.
The LeTv phone also has the super cool universal remote control app so that now you can operate your AC, DTH box, TV and many more devices from your phone – which is very impressive.
I have been using it extensively for gaming, telephony and as a media device and all that I can say it is well worth your money. At about Rs 12,000, the LeTv is a solid performer and value for money device. This is a luxury smartphone with premium functions at a price that does not burn a hole in the pocket.
Hardware of the LeTv 2:
– Display size 5.5″, IPS LCD, 401 PPI (pixel density),

– Processor & Chipset Octa core 1.8 GHz & Qualcomm Snapdragon 652
